Our work began back in the spring. In fact, Julia and I probably started thinking about our winter wardrobes and what FLINT would present, as early as the winter before that. I find it's always easier planning out what you might be wanting a year down the line during the season you're actually in, that way, when it comes to visiting the showrooms and watching the shows, eagerly anticipating what they'll show this time, the trends they'll reveal, it's so much easier to zone in on all those pieces that you felt you were looking for last time around.
For instance, I found myself desperately looking for a great winter coat - a long, tweedy coat in dark grey - and so I'm happy to say Barena has made the perfect one this season. Long line, with a stand up collar in a beautiful charcoal and black colourway, it strikes just the right balance between smart and informal. It's a piece that'll last and you'll love forever..
Masscob has also given us the perfect jacket. Made from a beautiful wool and linen blend, the fabric has an incredible texture which is soft and warm but lightweight too which makes it perfect for slightly milder winter days when you don't need to layer up too much. The longer line makes it slightly more masculine in feel but it also looks great over a dress or paired with a long skirt. I love it with the white textured cotton shirts Masscob have done this season. The lace trimmed version, click here to have a look, is on my list and has been flying out.
East By East West is another Flint favourite and has cultivated a strong following which grows season by season. The winter collection is the best yet and our go-to for simple, tailored pieces in beautiful fabrics, with a slight utility edge. Key pieces this autumn include an amazing duffle coat in ecru cashmere and the old school style cable knit jumpers that bring a well-loved classic bang up to date.
Reiko, a denim brand from Paris that continues to go from strength to strength, have delivered a great collection of denim jeans and we're loving the new skinny/slouchy style that feels so much more modern than a straightforward skinny or boyfriend jean. This collection will soon appear on our website so keep checking in for updates.
Take a look through our online selection but to see the collection in full, we do hope you can come and visit us in store someday...
There's something about a change of season that makes me want to wipe the slate clean and start over. When it comes to clothes, there's nothing like the dusky days of Autumn approaching to make me want to invest in key pieces that'll take me through the upcoming winter and to perhaps experiment a little with new trends and looks. The same mind set applies to the perfume I want to wear. We all appreciate how evocative a scent is and how it can take you right back to a time and place, which is why a change in the season is the perfect time to experiment with a new perfume.
At the shop, we've been loving several of the new releases from the brands we carry, whether it's by DS & Durga, Escentric Molecules, Cult of Treehouse..I could go on...but each of us at the shop has a favourite.
One fragrance however, always stands out for me despite all the new releases, and that's Amber by Laboratory Perfume. Its soft, incense based muskiness will be perfect paired with the winter layers I'm looking forward to wearing. It feels quite a straighforward amber, unlike other perfumes that contain this note so if you're a lover of incense rich fragrances, come in and give this one a go. We shall also be getting some of their Amber candles in next week so you can bet we'll be burning these over the coming weeks..
I'm also particularly drawn to the entire range by Abel, still very new to the UK, the supercool perfumers from Amsterdam have managed to create a line of natural perfumes and by that I don't mean essential oil based perfumes. These are as complex and as layered as any beautifully crafted perfume but come minus the nasty chemicals which for me, is a win-win. It's been a bit of a long process but I think I've finally settled on White Vetiver, a slightly masculine, herby fragrance with amazing depth and warmth that will see me right through winter and knits and big coats I'm looking forward to.

It's true, most of us are still clinging onto summer, but the long days are starting to turn already I feel. There's a definite change in the air.. and the sun feels it's shining in that particular golden way, the way it does in the autumn... All we can do is look forward and after all, the upcoming season feels all the more welcome when we have a new season wardrobe to covet!
A true Flint favourite, East By East West continues to go from strength to strength and having first seen the AW season's collection back in the spring, we've been looking forward every since.
This updated duffle coat is a key piece in this collection. Made from a beautiful cashmere yarn, unlined but really warm nonetheless, it is a perfect lightweight coat to wear in the coming months, and it feels both warm and luxurious.
Knitwear is also a real East By East West strongpoint and the designer, Korean born Sunu, takes great care in sourcing fabrics, yarns and the manufacture of her pieces. These are clothes of impeccable quality that you will want to keep and treasure and wear forever. Think along the lines of contemporary classics that will be some of the most hard working clothes in your wardrobe.

Harris Wharf London is a contemporary outerwear brand known for its elegant simplicity and attention to detail. Set up in 2009 by two siblings from Italy who have based their workshop in Camden, London, Harris Wharf continue to manufacture their designs in Turin using Italian fabrics.
We love their youthful take on traditional tailoring. The raw edges to the designs coupled with the fact that the coats are unlined, give a less formal feel to the styles.
Easy and comfortable, practical, warm, these are the perfect throw on pieces to elevate any outfit. We have a small selection online here but to see the full collection, visit us in store.
The new Autumn Collection '17 from Barena, has now arrived in store.
This beautiful collection, designed and manufactured in Venice, focuses on simple pieces in luxurious fabrics, with a slightly eccentric edge that elevates these typically classic clothes onto another level.
A pure white shirt has a frayed collar and hem, the jacket may have a raw, felted feel, the trousers may be cut in a very masculine way and perhaps overall, the collection may feel as thought it has a slightly oversized fit but all these elements are the notable differences that distinguish Barena from other labels.
Often described as 'simple cool', these are clothes for the woman who wants to appear trend conscious but not a slave to fashion. Barena's pieces are effortlessly comfortable and covetable, in fact you'll wonder how you did without it.
Winter's collection will be delivered slightly later in the year, but do keep checking our Barena page for updates as pieces will be added as we receive them
